Harley Davidson FLST FLSTI Softail Heritage 2006 Service Manual

The Heritage Softail returned for 2006, and Harley’s line on the first Heritage is that it was originally brought to life in 1986 and ended its initial production run in 1990. The 2006 bike follows the Softail family’s hardtail look, with underslung horizontal rear shocks hidden under the frame. Harley describes comfortable touring accommodations with early dresser styling: full-length floorboards, a solo seat at about 25.5 inches with a passenger pillion that comes off with a quick-release, and the five-speed gearbox with helical-cut gears and a heel-toe shifter. A US base price of $15,495 plus $275 destination made it cheaper than the Heritage Softail Classic.

Power comes from the rigid-mounted, counterbalanced Twin Cam 88B, an air-cooled 1,450cc (88 cubic inch) V-twin with a 95.18mm x 101.52mm bore and stroke and an 8.9:1 compression ratio. Torque is about 85 lb-ft (115 Nm) at 3,000 rpm, and Harley lists fuel economy of about 48 mpg on the highway and 41 mpg in the city. It was offered with a 40mm carburetor (FLST) or Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (FLSTI). The gearbox is a 5-speed with carbon-fiber belt final drive.

Tires are an MT90B16 front and a 150/80B16 rear, with a single brake disc at each end. Confirmed figures list a 64.5-inch wheelbase, a 5-gallon tank and a rake of 32 degrees with about 5.8 inches of trail. Dry weight is about 672 lbs, or about 703 lbs wet.
