Street Glide FLHX (2019): The Original Stripped-Down Hot Rod Bagger on the Milwaukee-Eight 107
Harley’s line for the Street Glide is “this is where highway meets the street,” the original stripped-down hot rod bagger, with a look backed by the refined power of the Milwaukee-Eight 107. It has the fork-mounted Batwing fairing, a fully adjustable rear suspension, a responsive front end and Reflex linked Brembo brakes. The 2019 Street Glide, which has been in Harley’s line since 2006, has the Boom! Box 4.3 infotainment system in the US, with the 6.5-inch Boom! Box GTS on the Special models. The 114-cubic-inch engine arrived in 2019 on the Ultra Limited, Ultra Limited Low, Road Glide Ultra, Road Glide Special, Street Glide Special and Road King Special, but the base Street Glide kept the 107. The 2019 US price was $21,289.
The engine is the Milwaukee-Eight 107, a 1,746cc air/oil-cooled V-twin with four valves per cylinder, a 100.1mm bore, a 111.3mm stroke and a 10:1 compression ratio, with Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection. Torque is 111 lb-ft (150 Nm) at 3,250 rpm, power is about 89 hp at 5,450 rpm, and the exhaust is a chrome 2-1-2 dual system with tapered mufflers. The gearbox is a 6-speed with a multi-plate wet clutch, a 34/46 chain primary drive and belt final drive.
The chassis has a 26-degree rake with 6.7 inches (170mm) of trail on a 64-inch (1,625mm) wheelbase. Brakes are dual front discs with four-piston calipers and a single rear disc, with ABS optional, and tires are a 130/70B18 63H front and a 180/65B16 81H rear on Enforcer cast aluminum wheels. The bike is 96.5 inches (2,450mm) long, 37.8 inches (960mm) wide and 53.1 inches (1,350mm) high, with 5.3 inches (135mm) of ground clearance.
Seat height is 26.1 inches (663mm) laden and 27.4 inches (695mm) unladen. The tank holds 6 gallons (22.7 litres), engine oil capacity is 5.2 quarts (4.9 litres) with the filter, and the saddlebags hold 2.3 cubic feet (65 litres). Weight is 796 lbs (361 kg) as shipped and 829 lbs (376 kg) in running order, with a gross vehicle weight rating of 1,360 lbs.
