Tri Glide Ultra FLHTCUTG (2018): Everything You Love About H-D Touring, on Three Wheels
Harley’s tagline for the 2018 Tri Glide Ultra is “everything you love about H-D touring, only on three wheels.” It has every touring feature, starting with the power of the Twin-Cooled Milwaukee-Eight 107. That includes a four-speaker, premium Boom! Box 6.5GT infotainment system with GPS and a color touchscreen, electronic cruise control, a security system and about 6.8 cubic feet of storage (the trunk and Tour-Pak). Electric reverse is standard, with a reverse indicator light on the instruments, which are larger, with wider numbers and a display with odometer, two trip meters, range to empty and a gear indicator. The wheels are black 7-spoke cast aluminum, a 16-inch front and 15-inch rears, with a six-piston fixed front caliper and linked rear brakes. The 2018 US price was $34,499 plus $856 destination ($35,349 in a color, $35,849 in two-tone, $36,249 in the Anniversary color).
The engine is the Twin-Cooled Milwaukee-Eight 107, a 1,746cc V-twin with liquid-cooled cylinder heads, four valves per cylinder, a 100mm bore, a 111.1mm stroke and a 10:1 compression ratio. Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection feeds it. Torque is 114 lb-ft (about 154 Nm) at 3,500 rpm, power is about 87 hp at 5,450 rpm, and Harley lists fuel economy of about 42 mpg. The exhaust is a chrome 2-1-2 dual system with tapered mufflers. The gearbox is a 6-speed Cruise Drive with reverse, a 34/46 chain primary drive and belt final drive.
The chassis has a 26-degree rake with 3.94 inches (100mm) of trail on a 65.7-inch (1,670mm) wheelbase. Tires are an MT90B16 72H at the front and car-size P205/65R15 92T at the rear. The trike is 105.1 inches (2,670mm) long, with 4.9 inches (125mm) of ground clearance. Seat height is 27.1 inches laden and 28.9 inches (735mm) unladen.
The tank holds 6 gallons (22.7 litres), and engine oil capacity is 5 quarts (4.7 litres) with the filter. The Tri Glide Ultra weighs 1,204 lbs (546 kg) as shipped and 1,243 lbs (564 kg) in running order.
