Electra Glide Ultra Classic FLHTCU (2019): The Essential Long-Haul Tourer on the Milwaukee-Eight 107
Harley’s tagline for the 2019 Electra Glide Ultra Classic is “happy horizon hunting,” calling it the essential long-haul touring machine with classic style, unsurpassed comfort and the passing power of the Milwaukee-Eight 107. It has the fork-mounted Batwing fairing, a roomy Tour-Pak luggage carrier, one-touch saddlebags, a powerful LED headlight with spot lamps, responsive front and rear suspension and Reflex linked Brembo brakes with ABS. The Boom! Box 4.3 infotainment system was standard, with the 6.5-inch Boom! Box GTS available as a factory option. The wheels are 10-spoke Impeller cast aluminum, a 17-inch front and a 16-inch rear. The 2019 US price was $24,589 plus $435 destination.
The engine is the Milwaukee-Eight 107, a 1,746cc air/oil-cooled V-twin with pushrod-operated overhead valves, hydraulic self-adjusting lifters and four valves per cylinder. Bore and stroke are 100mm x 111mm (3.937 x 4.375 in), with a 10:1 compression ratio and Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection. Torque is 111 lb-ft (150 Nm) at 3,250 rpm, and power is about 90 hp at 5,450 rpm. Fuel economy is about 43 mpg, and the exhaust is a chrome 2-1-2 dual system with tapered mufflers. The gearbox is a 6-speed with a 34/46 chain primary drive and belt final drive, with a 2.875 overall sixth gear.
The chassis has a 26-degree rake with 6.7 inches (170mm) of trail on a 64-inch (1,625mm) wheelbase, with lean angles of about 32 degrees each way. Brakes are dual front discs and a rear disc with 32mm four-piston fixed calipers, and tires are a Dunlop Multi-Tread 130/80B17 65H at the front and a 180/65B16 81H at the rear. The bike is about 102.4 inches (2,600mm) long, with 5.3 inches of ground clearance. Seat height is 27.4 inches laden and 29.1 inches (740mm) unladen.
The tank holds 6 gallons (22.7 litres), engine oil capacity is 5.2 quarts (4.9 litres) with the filter, and the Tour-Pak and saddlebags hold about 4.7 cubic feet. The Ultra Classic weighs about 877 lbs (398 kg) as shipped and about 904 lbs (410 kg) in running order, with a gross vehicle weight rating of 1,360 lbs.
