Electra Glide Ultra Classic FLHTCU (2008): The Standard Trim That Shared Every Real Upgrade With the Anniversary Edition — Minus the Serial Number
This 2008 model year brought the same genuine hardware upgrades across the whole Ultra Classic range, anniversary or not: a new Brembo braking system with dual front discs, a larger six-gallon fuel tank, Electronic Throttle Control (ETC), a new Isolated Drive System, improved battery access, and newly optional ABS and electronic cruise control — real mechanical refinement over the previous model year.
Power comes from the air-cooled Twin Cam 96, a 1,584cc V-twin, pushrod-operated overhead valves with hydraulic self-adjusting lifters, a 95.3mm x 111.3mm bore and stroke, and a 9.2:1 compression ratio, fed by Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI), delivering a claimed 92-92.6 lb-ft (125.5-125.6 Nm) of torque at 3,000-3,500 rpm through a 6-speed Cruise Drive manual transmission with belt final drive.
Standard equipment included a bat-wing, fork-mounted fairing with an integrated windshield, auxiliary headlamps, cast-aluminium wheels, a sculpted dual seat with lumbar support and a passenger backrest, a chromed dual exhaust system, wide handlebars, a radio/cassette audio system, and side panniers plus a rear trunk for genuinely substantial long-distance storage capacity.
Confirmed factory dimensions list a 98.3-inch length, a 27.3-inch laden seat height (30.7 inches unladen), 5.1 inches of ground clearance, a 26-degree rake with 6.2 inches of trail, and a 63.5-inch wheelbase, riding on MT90B16 front and MU85B16 rear Dunlop tires. Dry weight sits at 814 lbs (851 lbs in running order), with a 6-gallon fuel tank, and 2008 US pricing started at $20,695. A genuine CVO sibling sold the same year, the FLHTCU-SE3, ran a considerably larger Twin Cam 110 engine with integrated oil cooler and standard ABS — a real step up from this standard trim's optional braking assist.
This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2008 Electra Glide Ultra Classic FLHTCU running the way it was built to.
