Electra Glide Classic FLHTC (2008): "A Step Up in Features" — The Tour-Pak Trim Sitting Between the Standard and Ultra Classic
Harley's own factory copy positions this exact trim directly: "a step up in features, the FLHTC Electra Glide Classic adds an adjustable Tour-Pak and passenger seating area, 40-watt Advanced Audio System by Harman/Kardon, and full engine instrumentation, plus additional fender and saddlebag trim, for beyond-the-basics touring comfort and versatility" — genuinely the mid-tier Electra Glide, sitting above the base FLHT Standard but below the fully-loaded Ultra Classic FLHTCU.
This exact 2008 model year carried the same real upgrades applied across Harley's wider Touring range that year: a new Brembo braking system with dual front discs, a larger six-gallon fuel tank, Electronic Throttle Control, a new Isolated Drive System, and improved battery access. Power comes from the air-cooled Twin Cam 96, a 1,584cc V-twin, pushrod-operated overhead valves with hydraulic self-adjusting lifters, a 95.3mm x 111.3mm bore and stroke, and a 9.2:1 compression ratio, fed by Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI), delivering a claimed 92-92.6 lb-ft (125.5-125.6 Nm) of torque at 3,500 rpm through a 6-speed Cruise Drive manual transmission with belt final drive.
Standard styling included a black powder-coated engine with chrome-treated covers, a chrome cross-over exhaust with dual mufflers and taper end caps, full-length height-adjustable footboards with heel/toe shift levers front and rear, stainless steel easy-reach touring handlebars, a one-piece two-up Electra Glide comfort-stitch touring saddle, black 9-spoke cast aluminium wheels, white-stripe tires, and a bat-wing fork-mounted fairing with full instrumentation and hard, lockable saddlebags. A fork lock common with the ignition key and integrated hazard warning in the turn-signal controls rounded out the standard convenience features, with the Smart Security System offered as a next-generation hands-free option.
Confirmed factory dimensions list a 97.5-inch length, a 30.7-inch unladen seat height, 5.1 inches of ground clearance, a 26-degree rake with 6.2 inches of trail, and a 63.5-inch wheelbase, riding on 120/70-ZR19 front and 240/40-R18 rear tires. Dry weight sits at 791 lbs (827-828 lbs in running order), and 2008 US pricing started at $18,695.
This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2008 Electra Glide Classic FLHTC running the way it was built to.
