Electra Glide Standard FLHT/FLHTI (2003): The 100th-Anniversary Year, With Fuel Injection Newly Offered on the Standard

Harley describes the Electra Glide Standard as "the Harley touring experience taken down to pure form." 2003 was the company's 100th anniversary, and the Standard carried it with Vivid Black paint, a "100th" tank cloisonné and a model nameplate. It starts with the Twin Cam 88 at center stage. Buyers could choose a traditional carburetor or, new for 2003 on this model, the heat-managed electronic fuel injection Harley had introduced on its other touring bikes the year before. That's why both FLHT and FLHTI appear in the model code this year.

Power comes from the air-cooled, isolation-mounted Twin Cam 88, a 1,449cc V-twin with two valves per cylinder, a 95.3 x 101.6mm bore and stroke, and an 8.9:1 compression ratio. It makes a claimed 67 hp at 5,200 rpm and 110 Nm (81.1 lb-ft) of torque through a 5-speed transmission. The engine is finished in silver.

The touring package is the bat-wing fork-mounted fairing with the speedometer and tachometer, fiberglass saddlebags, a plush touring saddle, and air-adjustable rear suspension. Braking is triple-disc, with dual 292mm four-piston discs up front and a single 292mm disc at the rear. It rolls on 130/90-16 tires at both ends.

Confirmed figures list a 93.7-inch overall length, a 27.3-inch laden seat height (30.7 inches unladen), 5.1 inches of ground clearance, a 26-degree rake with 6.2 inches of trail, and a 63.5-inch wheelbase. The tank holds 18.9 litres including a 1.9-litre reserve, and dry weight is about 344kg (758 lbs).
