Screamin' Eagle Road King FLHRSEI2 (2003): One of Only 3,200, Introducing the First-Ever 103-Cubic-Inch Harley Big Twin
Motorcyclist's own road test calls this bike out directly: at 98.4 x 111.1mm bore and stroke, the cylinders add up to 103 cubic inches, or 1,690cc, "the biggest factory-built Harley Big Twin yet" at the time. Built on the frame of a standard FLHRI Road King, this CVO version was hand-assembled at Harley's York, Pennsylvania plant, with only around 3,200 examples produced. It marks the first year the 103-cubic-inch Twin Cam appeared in a factory Harley.
Power comes from the 45-degree Screamin' Eagle air-cooled Twin Cam 103, powder-coated silver with chrome covers, pushrod-operated overhead valves with hydraulic self-adjusting lifters, and a compression ratio bumped from 8.9:1 to 9.0:1. Harley's own factory copy confirms a claimed 100 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm, run through Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection with a single-runner, 45mm throttle bore and a high-performance clutch with hydraulic actuation.
Standard 2003 anniversary-year detailing includes hand-painted Centennial Gold with Vivid Black accents "ripped" through the front fender and saddlebags, contrasting burgundy pinstripes, a Gold Leaf tank emblem, and a color-matched Centennial Gold powder-coated frame, swingarm and footboard supports. Genuine CVO extras include a chrome 1-inch fat handlebar with internal wiring, chrome switch housings and hand levers, a custom oil cooler, a custom oil filter mount with internal thermostat, a high-strength final drive belt, a chrome voltage regulator, coated braided stainless steel brake, clutch and throttle lines, and a custom leather seat with chrome buttons, a detachable passenger backrest and a fully adjustable rider backrest.
This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2003 Screamin' Eagle Road King FLHRSEI2 running the way it was built to.
