Road King Classic FLHRC (2019): The Nostalgic Road King with Spoke Wheels, Whitewalls and Leather-Look Bags
The Road King Classic is the nostalgic version of Harley’s unfaired touring bike. Where the base Road King has cast wheels, the Classic has spoke wheels and whitewall tires, with leather-look saddlebags, a windshield you can remove in a few moves and two auxiliary lamps beside the Hiawatha headlamp nacelle. Floorboards and an upright handlebar keep you sitting comfortably. The Classic was built as the fuel-injected FLHRCI from the late 1990s, and it was the only regular Road King in some markets from 2010 to 2015. The 2019 bike was the last Classic model year, because Harley dropped it from the European lineup for 2020, which makes the 2019 an end-of-the-line bike for a classic-style Road King.
The 2019 Classic has the Milwaukee-Eight 107, a 1,745cc air/oil-cooled V-twin with four valves per cylinder and Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection. It makes 66 kW (about 90 hp) at 5,450 rpm and 150 Nm (111 lb-ft) of torque at 3,250 rpm, and meets Euro 4 emissions. The gearbox is a 6-speed Cruise Drive with belt final drive, and the exhaust is a chrome 2-1-2 dual system with tapered mufflers. In 2019 the larger 114 engine went only to the Road King Special, so the Classic kept the smoother 107.
ABS is fitted, and the suspension and chassis match the base Road King, with a 64-inch (1,625mm) wheelbase. The Classic has no infotainment or rider-assistance electronics, and the 2019 Road King and Classic run a phone for navigation and music instead.
Seat height is 715mm unladen, and the tank holds 22.7 litres (6 gallons). The Classic weighs about 376 kg (829 lbs) ready to ride, so it’s a heavy bike to maneuver, but it feels lighter once it’s rolling.
This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a Road King Classic FLHRC running the way it was built to.
