Road King Classic FLHRC (2008): "Pure Nostalgia" — With a Limited 105th Anniversary Edition Capped at 3,000 Units
Harley's own factory copy sums up the Classic in two words: "pure nostalgia." A genuine 105th Anniversary variant was sold alongside the standard FLHRC that year, serialized and capped to 3,000 units, finished in two-tone Copper Pearl/Vivid Black and shipped with standard cruise control — a real step up from the base model's optional equipment.
Power comes from the air-cooled Twin Cam 96, a 1,584cc V-twin, pushrod-operated overhead valves with hydraulic self-adjusting lifters, a 95.3mm x 111.3mm bore and stroke, and a 9.2:1 compression ratio, fed by Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI), delivering a claimed 92-96 lb-ft (125 Nm) of torque at 3,500 rpm through a 6-speed Cruise Drive manual transmission with a kevlar/carbon-fibre final drive belt.
This exact model year brought the same real upgrades introduced across Harley's wider 2008 Touring range: a new Brembo braking system with dual front discs, a larger six-gallon fuel tank with a fuel range indicator, Electronic Throttle Control, a new Isolated Drive System, a redesigned handlebar, and newly standard electronic cruise control. Standard styling included GTX nylon hard saddlebags with color-matched latches, a clean front fender, a one-piece two-up touring seat, a 40-watt CD/AM/FM/WB/MP3 Advanced Audio System by Harman/Kardon, and white-stripe tires on laced wheels, with Chrome Aluminum Profile Laced wheels offered as an option.
Confirmed factory dimensions list a 93.7-inch length, a 26.9-inch laden seat height (29.5 inches unladen), 5.1 inches of ground clearance, a 26-degree rake with 6.2 inches of trail, and a 63.5-inch wheelbase, riding on MT90B16 front and MU85B16 rear Dunlop tires. Dry weight sits at 738 lbs (775 lbs in running order), with a 6-gallon fuel tank. 2008 US pricing started at $17,945.
This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2008 Road King Classic FLHRC running the way it was built to.
