Road King Classic FLHRCI (2003): Two-Tone 100th Anniversary Paint on the Style That "Roamed the American Highways of a Half Century Ago"

Harley's own copy for the Road King Classic says "this is the style that roamed the American highways of a half century ago": wide whitewalls around laced wheels, full fenders, and a headlight "as big as a melon." It carries a unique chrome Road King Classic three-dimensional emblem on the fender tips and seat valance. For 2003, Harley's 100th anniversary, the Classic came in two-tone Sterling Silver and Vivid Black.

Power comes from the vibration-isolated, black-and-chrome Twin Cam 88, a 1,449cc air-cooled V-twin with a 95.3 x 101.6mm bore and stroke. It comes with Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection as standard, feeding a 5-speed transmission with belt final drive. A dealer listing rates torque at 80 lb-ft at 3,400 rpm.

The touring package is wide: a large Hiawatha headlight in a chrome nacelle, a detachable windshield, a large tank-mounted speedometer, leather-wrapped hard saddlebags, a one-piece tooled leather seat, standard wire-laced wheels, air-adjustable rear suspension, and electronic cruise control. Braking is triple-disc.

Confirmed figures list a 93.7-inch overall length, a seat height around 26.9 inches, and a dry weight of about 731 lbs. A factory-installed Smart Security System with a proximity fob was available as an option.
