Harley’s line for the 2019 Road King is “style that speaks of decades of love for the open road.” The stripped-down nostalgic look, with the Hiawatha headlamp and nacelle, was born in the ’60s, and the power of the Milwaukee-Eight 107 brings it into the present. The Road King has been in Harley’s line since 1994, with a removable windshield, floorboards, a comfortable two-up seat with a grab rail and one-touch-opening saddlebags (about 64.7 litres). It has no fairing and no infotainment, so navigation and music run through your phone. The wheels are 10-spoke Impeller cast aluminum, a 17-inch front and a 16-inch rear. The 2019 US price was $19,289 in Vivid Black ($19,739 in a color), and cruise control and the security system are standard, with ABS an option.

The engine is the Milwaukee-Eight 107, a 1,746cc air/oil-cooled V-twin with pushrod-operated overhead valves, hydraulic self-adjusting lifters and four valves per cylinder. Bore and stroke are 100mm x 111.1mm (3.937 x 4.374 in), with a 10:1 compression ratio and Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection. It has pressurized dry-sump lubrication with an oil cooler and a chrome 2-1-2 dual exhaust with tapered mufflers. Torque is 111 lb-ft (150 Nm) at 3,250 rpm, and power is about 89-90 hp at 5,450 rpm. The gearbox is a 6-speed with a 34/46 chain primary drive and a 32/68 belt final drive.

The chassis has a 26-degree rake (a 29.25-degree fork angle) and 6.7 inches (170mm) of trail on a 64-inch (1,625mm) wheelbase, with lean angles of about 32 degrees each way. Tires are a Dunlop D408F 130/80B17 65H at the front and a D407T 180/65B16 81H at the rear. The Road King is 96.5 inches (2,450mm) long, 37.8 inches (960mm) wide and 56.3 inches (1,430mm) high, with 5.3 inches (135mm) of ground clearance. Seat height is 26.3 inches (667mm) laden and 27.8 inches (705mm) unladen.

The tank holds 6 gallons (22.7 litres), and engine oil capacity is 5.2 quarts (4.9 litres) with the filter. Weight is 798 lbs (362 kg) as shipped and 836 lbs (379 kg) in running order, with a gross vehicle weight rating of 1,360 lbs (617 kg) and a rear gross axle rating of 927 lbs.
