Doosan 440/460/470 Plus: A Family Sharing Genetics, Not a Numbering System With Meaning
Doosan's own overseas service documentation is refreshingly candid about a detail that trips up a lot of shoppers: "model name (440, 450...) is no meaning, just model name." These three loaders — the 440 Plus, 460 Plus, and 470 Plus — represent distinct points across Doosan's Plus-series skid steer lineup, each built around Doosan's own internal DSL model codes (DSL702, DSL902, and the 470's own configuration respectively) rather than displacement or capacity figures the numbers might otherwise suggest.
Power scales up meaningfully across the three: the 440 Plus runs a 47 hp engine with a 1,973 lb rated operating capacity and 6,133 lb operating weight; the 460 Plus steps up to 69.9 hp with a 2,391 lb rated capacity and 6,900.5 lb operating weight; and the range-topping 470 Plus delivers the most power in this trio at 75 hp, using a Cummins B3.3T turbocharged diesel with 198.9 cubic inches of displacement, a 2,500 lb rated operating capacity, and 7,478 lb operating weight. Doosan's own factory documentation lists a genuinely broad spread of engine suppliers used across the Plus-series family depending on model and market — Cummins B3.3T and B3.3NA, KIA, Cummins A2300, Cummins A2000, and Yanmar — making correct engine identification against the specific model and serial number essential before ordering parts.
A genuinely important structural distinction runs through this family, documented directly in Doosan's own service manual: the 430 and 450 use a conventional boom design, while the 440, 460, and 470 all use Doosan's vertical-lift-path boom — meaning the 470 Plus in your listing shares its fundamental lift geometry with the 440 and 460 despite the different power classes, a genuine mechanical commonality that groups these three together for parts and service purposes even though the 450 sits in between them numerically. The 470 Plus's own spec sheet lists a 15.9-gallon fuel tank, 4,678 lb breakout force, a 10.66 ft length with bucket, and a 6.68 ft height to the top of the cab, giving a sense of the larger end of this family's working dimensions.
This operator's manual covers the safety procedures, controls, instrument panel operation, and routine maintenance needed to run a Doosan 440/460/470 Plus skid steer loader the way it was built to.
