The Eurosport treatment carried the same styling ambitions down to the smaller-displacement 400 for markets where that mattered.

Power comes from the twisted 80-degree pushrod V-twin shared across the CX family, displaced down to roughly 397cc for this application, delivering a claimed 40-42 hp through a 5-speed transmission and shaft final drive — genuinely reduced output tuned for licensing restrictions rather than outright performance, unlike the larger 500 and 650 Eurosport variants. A period-correct diamond-type frame, similar in concept to the CBX1000's chassis, formed the structural basis, described by contemporary reviewers as well-behaved if care was taken with its handling characteristics.

The Eurosport spec brought genuinely sportier hardware than the standard CX: a neat handlebar-mounted fairing, sweeping seat and side panel styling, and brushed aluminum Comstar wheels replacing the rounder, softer lines that earned the original CX its "plastic maggot" nickname. Twin front disc brakes and a rear disc, paired with Pro-Link monoshock rear suspension, gave the 400 genuinely capable braking and handling for its class. A fuel gauge was added to the instrument panel specifically to suit longer touring rides the Eurosport's upright riding position was built to handle. This smaller-displacement CX variant remained largely a European and licensing-restricted-market model throughout its run.
