CForce 400 (2020-2023): 26 Percent More Suspension Travel and a 21 Percent Bigger Tank Than the Model It Replaced

MCN's own 2023 Australian review confirms exactly how far this platform moved on from its predecessor: "compared to their predecessors the latest 400/520 models have a much tighter turning radius, 26 per cent more suspension travel, a generous 254mm of ground clearance, and at 17 litres, 21 per cent more fuel capacity." That same review notes real market traction behind the brand: "CFMoto have sold over 40,000 off-road vehicles in Australia."

Power comes from a 398-400cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, SOHC with 4 valves, a 91mm bore and 61.5mm stroke, fed by Bosch EFI, delivering a claimed 31 hp at 7,200 rpm and 32.5 Nm (24 lb-ft) of torque at 6,000 rpm through a CVTech CVT with Hi/Low range and reverse, feeding a selectable 2WD/4WD driveline with a standard front differential lock and shaft final drive front and rear.

MCN's own review confirms a genuine, real reason behind the high-mount intake worth knowing: "the 400 is the starter model in the CFORCE range and is powered by a 400cc 31 horsepower fuel-injected single-cylinder engine with a high-mount air intake for water crossings" — real engineering for genuine wading capability rather than just a styling flourish. Standard equipment across the whole range includes large front and rear luggage racks, 24-inch six-ply tires, a 12-volt power socket plus two USB ports, a front bumper, front and rear fenders, and a skid plate with A-arm protection front and rear.

A pricier EPS trim added electronic power steering, alloy wheels, and a winch as standard — MCN's own confirmed 2023 Australian pricing lists $8,790 ride-away for the base 400 and $9,590 for the EPS version. Confirmed dimensions list an 80.6-82.6-inch length, 44-inch width, a 50-50.7-inch wheelbase, 10-10.8 inches of ground clearance, a 35.4-inch seat height, and a 742 lb dry weight. US pricing climbed from $4,399 in 2020-2021 to $4,999 by 2022.

This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2020-2023 CForce 400 running the way it was built to.
