CFMoto 700CL-X Sport: The Café Racer Version of CFMoto’s 700CL-X Middleweight Platform
The 700CL-X Sport is the café-racer version of CFMoto’s 700CL-X middleweight platform, a range first shown at EICMA in Milan in 2019 and built around an all-new twin. The platform was billed as CFMoto’s new flagship, above its existing NK, SR, GT and MT ranges. The Sport is the most poised of the family, with a stripped-back look. It shares the Heritage’s X-cowled circular headlight and prominent tank hump, but adds swept-back clip-on bars with bar-end mirrors, a single-seat look, a fly-screen and sportier graphics. The kit list includes cruise control, adaptive automatic LED lighting, a rollover sensor, a USB port and two engine maps, Sport and ECO.
Power comes from a newly developed 693cc liquid-cooled DOHC parallel-twin with eight valves, an 83mm x 64mm bore and stroke, lightweight DLC-coated pistons and Bosch fuel injection. The gearbox is a 6-speed with a slipper clutch. Power and torque figures differ between early reports and later market specifications, so check the figures on your own bike’s documentation.
The chassis is a chromoly steel bridge frame, with the engine as a stressed member. Suspension is a fully adjustable 41mm inverted fork and a monoshock with an aluminum swingarm, adjustable for preload and compression or rebound. The Sport moves from the Heritage’s 18-inch front wheel to a 17-inch, on lighter alloy wheels with road tires, a 120/70 front and a 180/55-17 rear. Brakes are dual front discs with Brembo radial calipers, where the Heritage has a single disc.
Confirmed figures list a 1,435mm wheelbase, a 795mm seat height and a 13-litre tank. The claimed dry weight is about 189 kg, and the lightweight frame weighs only about 16.5 kg.
This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a CFMoto 700CL-X Sport running the way it was built to.
