Tuono 660 (2021-2023): Aprilia’s Middleweight Super-Naked, Built on the RS 660’s Parallel-Twin

When Aprilia introduced the Tuono 660 in 2021, it owed much of its form to the RS 660 sportbike. Aprilia swapped the yoke-mounted clip-ons for handlebars, shaved down the front fairing and bodywork, and retuned the 659cc parallel-twin for street duty. The 270-degree firing pattern gives it a characterful sound. It sits in the middleweight naked class, and the US price started at about $10,499.

Power comes from the 659cc liquid-cooled DOHC parallel-twin with a crankpin offset, an 81mm bore, a 63.93mm stroke and a 13.5:1 compression ratio, fed by ride-by-wire injection. The standard bike makes about 95 hp at 10,500 rpm and 67 Nm (49 lb-ft) of torque at 8,500 rpm. The gearbox is a 6-speed with an antihopping slipper clutch, and the bike can be restricted for A2 licences. Electronics include Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC), with traction control, wheelie control, cruise control, riding modes, launch control and a quickshifter. The standard bike has no IMU, which was an option.

The standard bike uses a 41mm KYB inverted fork and a KYB shock with rebound damping and preload adjustment. Tires are a 120/70-17 front and a 180/55-17 rear.

The 2022 Tuono 660 Factory, unveiled at EICMA 2021, steps up with a 100 hp tune at 10,500 rpm, a front sprocket with one less tooth, a fully adjustable KYB fork and a Sachs remote-reservoir shock. It has the full APRC suite with a six-axis IMU and multi-map cornering ABS as standard, a lithium battery, a single-seat tail and Factory Dark graphics. Its claimed weight is about 181 kg (399 lbs), about 2 kg lighter.

This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep an Aprilia Tuono 660 running the way it was built to.
