Breakout 114 (2022): Last Year of the 114 Before the 117 Takeover
2022 closed out an era for the Breakout: this was the final year the drag-inspired cruiser ran the Milwaukee-Eight 114 in the US market before Harley bumped it up to the 117 for 2023. No major changes came with the send-off, keeping the formula that had defined the Breakout since the ground-up Softail redesign in 2018.
The Milwaukee-Eight 114 makes a claimed 93 hp and 119 lb-ft of torque, dual counter-balanced and rigidly mounted in the stiffer, monoshock Softail chassis that replaced the old dual-shock frame — a change that improved handling, ride comfort, and lean angle across the board. Owner-reported real-world impressions back up the factory numbers: strong, torquey pull from low revs, easy off-the-line acceleration even in third gear, and clean running between service intervals, with wind resistance becoming the limiting factor well before the engine does.
Styling stays intentionally minimalist: a chopped rear fender sitting tight against the massive 240mm Michelin Scorcher rear tire, a 3.5-gallon smooth-top fuel tank, a low-profile solo seat, and distinctive Gasser II cast aluminum wheels finished in gloss black. A compact digital display integrated into the handlebar riser clamp keeps the cockpit clean and uncluttered. Front and rear tires run 130/60-21 and 240/40-18.
