Breakout 114: Drag-Strip Looks Meet Harley's Biggest Softail Engine
The Breakout has always played dress-up as a drag bike, and the 114 version leans into it harder than any Softail before it. A raked-out 21-inch front wheel, swept-back bars, feet-forward controls, and a massive 240mm rear tire give it a long, low, unmistakable silhouette — the kind of proportions that turn a stoplight into a starting line, at least in attitude if not in outright drag-strip pedigree.
Power comes from the Milwaukee-Eight 114 V-twin: 1,868cc, a 102mm x 114mm bore and stroke, and a 10.5:1 compression ratio, breathing through electronic sequential port fuel injection and a mismatched two-into-two exhaust. Harley's claimed torque figure sits around 119 ft-lb at 3,000 rpm, delivered through a 6-speed box and belt final drive. The 114 became the Breakout's standard engine for 2021, replacing the smaller 107 as the sole option.
The Softail frame underneath was substantially reworked for this generation — fewer parts, fewer welds, and a stiffer chassis overall, while still holding onto the hardtail look the Softail name promises. A redesigned, slightly smaller fuel tank and stacked dual exhaust give the 2021 bike its own visual identity within the Breakout lineage. Front and rear tire sizes run 130/60-21 and 240/40-18, with digital instrumentation mounted on the risers for a clean, minimal cockpit.
Big, low, wide-tired customs like this one take a beating from both hard riding and hard cornering — this factory manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams to keep a Breakout 114 running the way it looks like it should.
