Fat Boy 107 (2018): The Steamroller Icon, Rebuilt From the Ground Up

The 2018 model year brought the biggest overhaul the Fat Boy platform had seen since its 1990 debut — Harley folded its Dyna and Softail lines into one unified chassis that year, and the Fat Boy came out the other side with an all-new frame, suspension, and the debut of the Milwaukee-Eight engine family on the Softail line, offered here in standard 107 form or as a step-up 114.

The Milwaukee-Eight 107 delivers a claimed 86 hp at 5,020 rpm and 107 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 rpm, with a 3.937 in. bore and 4.374 in. stroke on a 10.0:1 compression ratio, run through electronic sequential port fuel injection and a 6-speed gearbox with belt final drive. Dual counterbalancing lets the engine be rigidly mounted in the new frame, giving it a smoother, more refined character than the outgoing Twin Cam-powered generation.

Willie G. Davidson's signature solid disc wheel design carries forward unchanged in spirit — the widest front tire Harley has ever offered from the factory at 160mm, paired with a massive 240mm rear, still the visual signature that made the Fat Boy an instant icon nearly three decades earlier. A racing-style cartridge fork and easily adjustable rear mono-shock deliver a genuinely more responsive ride than earlier generations, hidden beneath the classic hardtail-look Softail silhouette. Dry weight comes in lighter than the previous generation, with a 5-gallon fuel tank.
