Harley Davidson FXS Softail Blackline 2011 Service Manual

Harley launched the Blackline a few months after the rest of the 2011 range, as a bare-bones Dark Custom Softail drawing on the bobber movement. It immediately took the title of lowest seat height on any Harley, at 24 inches laden, lower than the Fat Boy Lo and the Sportster SuperLow. This was the debut year and the only year of the Twin Cam 96B Blackline, because the bike moved to the 103B for 2012.

Power comes from the rigid-mounted, counter-balanced Twin Cam 96B, an air-cooled 1,584cc V-twin with a 95.3 x 111.1mm bore and stroke, a 9.2:1 compression ratio, and Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection. It makes a claimed 89 lb-ft (121 Nm) of torque at 3,250 rpm through a 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission with a wet multi-plate clutch and belt final drive. The rocker box covers, crankcase, primary cover and transmission side cover are finished in gloss black powder-coat, the cylinders are silver with machined highlights, and the derby and timing covers are chrome.

The look is narrow and raw: a big 21-inch front wheel on an MH90-21 tire, a 16-inch rear with an MU85B16 tire, and hidden horizontal coil-over shocks that keep the vintage hardtail lines. Braking is a single disc at each wheel, with a four-piston front caliper and a two-piston rear.

Confirmed figures list a 30-degree rake with 123mm of trail, a 66.5-inch wheelbase, a 5-gallon (18.9-litre) fuel tank, and 638.5 lbs as shipped. ABS was an option that year, and price started at $15,499.
